Paula MacDonald

Paula is a Saulteaux-Cree Deaf woman from Regina, Treaty 4, raised in Ottawa. She graduated in Indigenous and Canadian Studies from Carleton University and now works as a social policy analyst for the federal government. Adopted and using American Sign Language, Paula discovered her identity in college, becoming an ally to the community. She learned about her culture and connected with Indigenous Deaf people across Canada, becoming an active community member.
Paula advocates for Indigenous Deaf youth nationwide. Her long-term goal is to expand and strengthen both Deaf youth and Indigenous communities across Canada. She volunteers by supporting, engaging, and consulting with the community. Paula aims to provide better opportunities and resources for Indigenous Deaf communities in their homes, schools, and broader communities.
